The very edge of a fast moving storm formed just above my house this summer. I knew there was some lightning in the area so I headed outside with my trusty iPhone 4. Because the lightning strikes were happening so quickly I set my phone camera on movie. I was able to capture a great lightning crash that began at one end of the sky and shot right over my head to the other end of the darkened sky. It was one of those lightning flashes that look like fingers spreading throughout the night.
I ran the movie back and discovered that I had captured the entire flash. I paused the movie on this frame and captured the screen shot by clicking the power on/off button at the same time as the Home button.
This is one of the best frames of the movie and shows the strike at it’s most intense.
