1974 – The Good Old Days

Posted by curtoon2062 in Blawg, Must Reads, The 70's

Many of the stories, games and adventures I write about on this blog took place in the mid 70′s. I formed a lifelong friendship with a core group of four other guys. Our friendship began in 1974 as I entered the sixth grade. Three of us were in the same class together and the other two were actually two years our junior. The photo above is a recent mini reunion I had with two guys from the old neighborhood. We have not all been together in well over 30 years. I’ll soon write more...

Cool Gift #003

Posted by curtoon2062 in Blawg, Gifts, The 70's

Another great gift related to the 70′s! My mom ordered this great 70′s candy collection for my birthday. I think the Boston Baked Beans are my favorite but the Atomic Fireball jaw breakers were a close second. Also in the collection are Abba Zaba Minis, Apple Heads, Bubble Gum Cigarettes, Bubble Gum Cigars, Candy Cigarettes, Charms Sweet & Sour Pops, Cherry Heads, Bit O Honey Bar, Freshen Up Gum, Giant Smarties, Hot Tamales, Jolly Rancher Sticks, Laffy Taffy, Licorice...

What Made The 70′s So Cool?

Posted by curtoon2062 in Blawg, The 70's

If you haven’t noticed yet, I loved the 70′s. This great vintage photo was taken in the 70′s. That goofy guy in short shorts and ringer tee is my uncle Richard. He was always the crazy uncle in the family. This 1970′s green Gremlin was his pride and joy, that is, up until he sold it to buy a silver AMC Pacer! My uncle, the only guy to buy a Gremlin AND a Pacer. Here’s my quick list of the top 50 things that made living in the 70′s so cool. It’s not a...

Posted by curtoon2062 in Blawg, The 70's

Hey you guys!!! I’ve found an excellent resource for vintage 70′s movie posters! They’ve got some of the great posters just like the ones at the picture shows we used to see including Star Wars, The Godfather, Rocky, Taxi Driver, King Kong, The Exorcist, The Poseidon Adventure and more! There were many ground breaking movies that we saw in the 70′s. Most were memorable for different reasons. A few defined us as independent individuals able to view a legitimate movie on...

Foods We Had To Eat As Kids

Posted by curtoon2062 in Blawg, The 70's

There’s not much more that I love than giving my speech about what I had to eat as a kid every time my crumb crunchers refuse to eat something on their plate. If you grew up in the 70′s you might remember a few of these great old throat gaggers. The absolute worst and top of the list was liver! You know the liver that looked like a steak and you had to cut it and chew on it for a while just to swallow it. Where did our parents come up with this stuff, the local morgue? I mean...
